Class Overview: A space to explore the possibilities that the floor brings in a safe environment filled with curiosity, encouragement and good old hard WORK!
IS THIS A GOOD CLASS FOR ME?
* If you want to start a floorwork practice for the first time
* If you have done floorwork before but feel unsure of what you are doing or how
* If you are looking for a safe place to develop new skills out of your comfort
* If you are curious about movement and feel attracted to flowy dancing and nice music
* If you have an interest for anatomy and how physics play a key roll in movement (my personal passion)
‼️THIS CLASS IS FOR YOU‼️
These 2 hour sessions are based on concepts of release, flying low, puzzle work, physics and somatic practices; we will learn drills, safety tips, build up strength and work on coordination so we can come on and off the floor, find non vertical pathways, and become more aware of our bodies and the space we use and move through.
We will work in a progressive way, accumulating concepts and skills to build a set of abilities that will help you in your dance journey.
Instructor: Natalia Arancibia (she/her) is a Chilean creator, performer and educator based in Tkaronto, with a deep interest in the instinctive movement of bodies and nature. As a dancer, she focuses on the continuous flow of energy and motion, allowing her body to express freely within its natural rhythm. This focus shapes her choreographic practice, where she aims not only to tell stories but to create immersive experiences that provoke emotional responses in the audience. In her role as an educator, Natalia adopts a soft approach, offering meaningful guidance within contemporary practices, especially floor work, where she emphasizes efficiency and organic movement. Beyond dance, she is intrigued by the intersection of media arts and architecture with movement, seeking to enhance audience experiences through this fusion. Passionate about community building, Natalia is dedicated to creating inclusive spaces that connect people through movement. She is currently part of the Dance Makers’s curatorial programme supported by “Critical Distance”.
